More About Amar Ali

Amar is a supervising solicitor and the founder of Reiss Edwards, where he has led the firm to become a leading UK practice advising both businesses and private individuals on immigration law. Under his direction, the firm has built a strong reputation for supporting corporate sponsors, entrepreneurs, families, and high-net-worth individuals through innovative legal strategy and consistently high levels of client satisfaction.

Amar began his legal career in 2008 as an Immigration Adviser with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC, now the IAA) after graduating with First-Class Honours in Law (LLB). He went on to become an in-house advocate, representing clients in complex immigration appeals before the First-tier and Upper Tribunals. This early exposure to contentious immigration work led Amar to undertake further legal training as a barrister via the Bar Vocational Course (BVC), strengthening his advocacy skills, legal analysis, and approach to complex legal argument. In 2013, he transitioned from IAA regulation to qualify as a Solicitor of England and Wales under the SRA and has been the driving force behind the strategic, commercial, and client-focused growth of Reiss Edwards since 2014.

With over a decade of legal experience, Amar continues to shape the firm’s strategic direction while maintaining close oversight of complex, high-value matters across both business and private client immigration. Recent examples of his work include:

  • Overturned suspensions of Sponsor Licences for Skilled Worker and other corporate sponsors;
  • Provided strategic guidance on sponsor compliance, governance, and workforce mobility for Samsung;
  • Advised on discretionary registration applications for children to become British nationals on the basis of adoption;
  • Conducted Judicial Review proceedings challenging the reliability of the Home Office’s interview records that led to a visitor visa refusal;
  • Managed the processing of a child’s PBS dependant extension application from outside the UK while the remaining family members and main applicant applied from within the UK.

Amar is also widely recognised as a leading voice in immigration law commentary. His legal writing has been featured by LexisNexis and cited by Cambridge University Press, with several articles referenced in academic research, policy discussions, and professional training materials. His analysis is relied upon by corporate advisers, private client practitioners, HR teams, and compliance professionals, and his ability to break down complex legal frameworks into accessible, practical insights has made his work a valued resource across the profession.

Amar places significant emphasis on the supervision and development of junior paralegals across both the firm’s business and private client immigration practices. He ensures that junior team members are trained to handle sponsor compliance, personal immigration applications, and procedural case management to a consistently high standard, reinforcing accuracy, efficiency, and best practice across the firm.

In addition to his core immigration practice, Amar has a strong foundation in family law, particularly where it intersects with immigration. His in-depth knowledge of legal developments and case law enables him to offer joined-up, strategic advice on matters such as divorce, financial settlements, cohabitation, and child arrangements, especially where immigration status, nationality, or cross-border considerations arise. He stays at the forefront of legal change through active engagement with leading family law publications, case commentary, and scholarly discourse. He is regularly approached by the media to comment on developments in both family law and immigration law.

Clients value Amar’s calm, pragmatic approach and his ability to cut through complexity with clarity and purpose. He is widely regarded by peers and clients as an outstanding legal mind, known for his ability to distil complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice. Whether advising businesses, families, or individuals, he is known for his sound judgement, regulatory insight, and practical problem-solving, alongside an unwavering focus on achieving the best outcomes for his clients.

Amar’s leadership vision continues to centre on innovation across both business and private client immigration service delivery. He is a strong advocate for using technology to enhance legal service delivery and internal firm efficiency, always with the aim of delivering the highest standards of client care. For example, he is developing bespoke AI-driven and automated solutions to support sponsor licence management, compliance monitoring, and high-volume private client workflows, while ensuring that all systems operate under the close supervision of experienced legal professionals.

Approachable, diligent, and solutions-driven, Amar is focused on building lasting client relationships grounded in trust, empathy, and professional excellence. His combined strength in business and private client immigration, together with his family law expertise, positions him as a trusted adviser on both personal and workforce mobility matters.
